bar bonobo is a small nightclub in Jingumae 2-chome, Shibuya, Tokyo, set in a renovated old Japanese house. It was started in 2005 by SEI, who had spent ten years in New York from 1989 to 1999 playing live and making music, together with a few close friends. The club calls itself one of the smallest nightclubs in the city and says its unusual interior and sound setup have made it loved by people from around the world, with the feel of being invited to a slightly eccentric friend's home party. Parties run on several nights a week, mostly Wednesday to Saturday, from 22:00, often until 05:00, across two floors, with DJs and live acts on the 1F and more DJs upstairs on the 2F. Door entry is usually 2,000 yen with one drink.
