MUTEK (Tokyo, Japan) 2026

Mutek Japan runs in Tokyo from 20 to 23 November 2026, four days of electronic music and digital art from the Japanese chapter of the Montreal festival. Mutek.JP operates as an organisation rather than only an annual event, working through the year on the development and public understanding of digital creativity.

The programme follows the Mutek model: audiovisual performances, live electronic sets, installations and talks treated as one body of work rather than separate tracks, with artists chosen for what they are building rather than what they are touring. The festival has run in Tokyo since 2015 and publishes a full aftermovie for each edition, with films going back to 2017.

Tickets are sold through Zaiko, the Japanese ticketing platform. Venues are published closer to the date and are typically spread across central Tokyo, which suits a city where the relevant rooms are small and scattered rather than concentrated. Tokyo is served by Haneda and Narita, with Haneda 30 minutes from the centre. For a digital arts and electronic music festival in Japan, Mutek is the one with the international network behind it.
