Not every festival is defined by its line-up alone. Sometimes it is the setting that sets the tone, and in 2026 a handful of events are pushing the boundaries of where electronic music can be experienced. From ancient Greek temples to open-air Roman quarries and Adriatic coastlines, here are four destination festivals taking place in some of the most extraordinary locations Europe has to offer.
Aura Festival, Sicily, Italy

1st – 2nd May 2026 | Segesta Archaeological Park, Sicily
A brand new 4,000-capacity festival making its debut at the Parco Archeologico di Segesta in western Sicily, Aura Festival transforms a UNESCO-listed archaeological site into an open-air electronic music environment. Set against the well-preserved Doric Temple of Segesta and an ancient Greek theatre overlooking sweeping countryside, the festival pairs an underground programme with one of the most culturally significant backdrops in the world.
Line-up: Francesco Del Garda, Oshana, Onur Özer, Quest and more.

YARD Festival, Portugal

21st – 24th May 2026 | Azeitão, Portugal
Set within the White Sand Mountains of Portugal’s Setúbal region, YARD Festival transforms Azeitão into a multi-site destination spanning a historic castle, coastal park and vineyard-lined countryside, all less than an hour from Lisbon. The four-day event blends electronic music with large-scale art installations and Burning Man collaborations, embedding itself within the natural and cultural landscape rather than a single festival site.
Line-up: Bonobo, Jamie Jones, Chris Stussy, Seth Troxler, Monolink, RY X live and more.

4th – 7th June 2026 | Cave Romane, Vinkuran, Croatia
Gates of Agartha takes place within the Cave Romane, a vast open-air quarry framed by towering 50-metre rock walls near Pula on the Croatian coast. One of the most architecturally striking festival environments in Europe, the natural acoustics and dramatic scale of the setting create an almost subterranean atmosphere. A cutting-edge underground line-up completes a visually and sonically immersive experience unlike anything else in the calendar.
Line-up: ANOTR, Mau P, Dennis Cruz, Hot Since 82, Traumer, Mita Gami, Avangart Tabldot, Saraga and more.
