Monegros Desert Festival 2026 Announces Its First Simultaneous Double Closing
On 25 July, Monegros Desert Festival will close its 2026 edition with two headline sets at once: Héctor Oaks on the new OUTWORLD stage and Richie Hawtin at Techno Cathedral, ending a 22 hour rave in the Fraga desert.

Monegros Desert Festival has revealed how it will end its 2026 edition, and there is nothing quite like it in the event’s history. On Saturday 25 July, in the desert of Fraga in Aragón, the Spanish festival will run two headline closing sets at the same time, pushing its 22 hour rave into the final hours from two stages at once.
Two Closings, One Moment
From 10:00 to 12:00 midday, two of the most recognised names in electronic music will take the final slots on separate stages. Héctor Oaks will close OUTWORLD, a new 360 degree stage built for 20,000 people that makes its debut this year. At the same time, Richie Hawtin will play the last set at Techno Cathedral, one of the site’s best known spaces.
The pairing is deliberate. Oaks carries the raw, fast moving energy of the current rave circuit, while Hawtin has spent decades shaping how techno sounds and how it is performed. Two generations close the festival together rather than one after the other, and the organisers are framing it as one of the defining moments in more than thirty years of Monegros.

A 22 Hour Programme in a Temporary Desert City
The double closing caps an edition built for endurance. The 2026 line-up runs past 120 artists across stages that together form a temporary city on the desert floor, with the music holding for 22 hours without a break. The bill includes Amelie Lens, Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Len Faki, Indira Paganotto, Kobosil, Fatima Hajji, Seth Troxler, Klangkuenstler and Brutalismus 3000, alongside back to back sessions such as Ben Klock with SHDW and Dax J with Daria Kolosova.

OUTWORLD is the headline addition, and Monegros says it is the only festival staging an immersive concept on this scale. Returning zones fill out the rest of the map: 240 KM/H with its face to face format, the German industrial techno platform Unreal, a collaboration with Awakenings, the psy techno world of Indira Paganotto’s ARTCORE, and elrow with its usual heavy production. Press accreditation for the 2026 edition is now open.

The TA View
Two simultaneous closings read like a scheduling gamble, since most festivals want the final set to be the one thing everyone remembers. Monegros is doing the opposite, and it suits the place. This is a site large enough that no one ever sees all of it, so letting the old school and the new school finish at the same moment turns a farewell into a decision the crowd has to make. It also says something about where the festival sees its audience in 2026, split between Hawtin’s control and Oaks’s intensity, and confident that both rooms will be full.
