About Rhythm and Alps
Rhythm and Alps returns to the Cardrona Valley near Wanaka on 30 and 31 December 2026, the New Zealand New Year festival that passed its fifteenth anniversary in 2025. The Cardrona Valley runs between Wanaka and Queenstown through the Crown Range, and the site sits in a natural amphitheatre with mountains on three sides.
The booking is deliberately wide: international headliners alongside a substantial New Zealand programme across multiple stages, with the festival publishing an official aftermovie every year. The organisers also run a bus ticket programme from Queenstown and Wanaka, which is essential for a site with no public transport.
Tickets are sold through the festival’s own site with a ticket guide and support service alongside. Wanaka is an hour from Queenstown Airport, which connects directly to Auckland, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, making this one of the more accessible remote festival sites anywhere. Late December in Central Otago is hot and dry by day and cold at night at altitude. For a New Zealand New Year music festival, Rhythm and Alps is the iconic one.
