Plus 8 Records was founded in 1990 in Windsor, Ontario by Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva. Its first releases were fast, industrial leaning hardcore recordings.It became one of the main labels of the second wave of Detroit style techno. F.U.S.E. and Plastikman, both Hawtin aliases, have the most releases, followed by Speedy J, Sysex and Cybersonik. The label was suspended in 1997 when Acquaviva focused on DJing and Hawtin launched M_nus, and it has since returned only for reissues and retrospectives such as the Plus 8 Classics set.
