DURATIONS Festival (Brooklyn, NY, United States) 2026

Durations Festival returns to Brooklyn from 9 to 15 November 2026 for its fifth edition, a week long programme of music, talks and audiovisual work staged by Public Records across four venues: its own room on Butler Street, Pioneer Works, Roulette and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The booking is one of the strongest experimental programmes anywhere this year. William Basinski plays a three night run in The Sound Room, Suzanne Ciani, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Klein, Matana Roberts, Dasha Rush, DJ Sprinkles, Yu Su, Eiko Ishibashi and Buttechno all appear, Terre Thaemlitz gives a debut live piano performance, and Fred Moten reads with Brandon Lopez. Afrikan Sciences takes over Upstairs, and Breadtree Farms host a dinner as part of the programme.

The festival also runs talks and readings alongside the music, with Chloe Bass, Josh Citarella, Yancey Strickler, Triple Canopy and Ciaran Finlayson among the contributors. Festival passes cover every event across every venue except the Whitney, where free admission tickets are available through the museum’s own site. Entry is 21 and over and Public Records sits at 233 Butler Street in Gowanus, a short walk from the Bergen Street and Union Street subway stops. It is the most interesting week long music festival New York stages.
