About Numbers

Numbers is a nightclub and live music venue at 300 Westheimer Road in Houston's Montrose district. It opened in summer 1978 as a gay disco and by 1980 had become a mixed alternative dance club, with new wave nights started by DJ Bruce Godwin. Its first concert, Siouxsie and the Banshees in October 1981, was followed by acts such as Ministry, Björk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grace Jones, Nine Inch Nails and The Cure. The best known night is Classic Numbers, started in 1991 by resident DJ Wes Wallace, which plays new wave, post-punk, industrial, goth and synth pop every Friday. The club has a large dancefloor and stage, a laser and video system, an upstairs HD video bar and an outdoor patio. Longtime staff member Rudi Bunch owns the club today.
