About MS Stubnitz
MS Stubnitz is an 80 metre former GDR fishing refrigeration ship, launched in 1964 in Stralsund, that has been a floating culture venue since 1992. After touring 22 cities in 11 countries, it has been based permanently in Hamburg since 2014 and now lies at Kirchenpauerkai 29 by the Elbbrücken in HafenCity. The non-profit association Motorschiff Stubnitz e.V. runs it, largely with a volunteer crew. Events take place in the former cargo holds and on deck: Laderaum 4 at the stern holds up to 400 people, the Verarbeitung bar has a fixed DJ booth, and Laderaum 1 and the quarterdeck add more space, for up to 700 guests in total. The programme mixes alternative and experimental concerts with club nights. At the Clubawards 2025 it was named best club of 2024.
