Ibiza Total Solar Eclipse 2026: Tiësto’s Kiss, DJ Harvey at Pikes

For just over a minute on 12 August 2026, Ibiza went dark. As the sun dropped towards the north-western horizon, the Moon slid fully across it and the island fell into a total solar eclipse, the first seen from the White Isle since 1905. On an island that has built an entire culture around the sunset, the timing could not have been more theatrical: totality arrived almost exactly as the sun met the sea.

Totality was fleeting. Timekeepers clocked it at roughly one minute and eleven seconds, with the blacked-out sun sitting only a few degrees above the horizon shortly after 20:26 CEST. That low angle, unusual for a total eclipse, made it one of the most photogenic in years, and Ibiza did not waste the moment.

The dance-music world reacted in real time. Tiësto shared what became the most-circulated clip of the night, filmed kissing his wife as the sky went black. FISHER and Martin Garrix both posted their own footage from the island. For a scene that usually treats sunset as the cue to begin, the eclipse turned it into the main event.

The clubs leaned all the way in. At Pikes, DJ Harvey ran his Phoenix Rising eclipse special at 528 Ibiza from 6pm until 4am, joined by Artwork and Sonido Tupinamba, stretching a set across totality before moving the party indoors.

Across the island the programming synced to the darkness. Cova Santa hosted Woomoon’s tenth-anniversary eclipse edition with Sven Väth, André Hommen, Valentín Huedo and Tanika, their set times built around the moment of totality. It was a fitting booking: Väth’s Balearic anthem L’Esperanza has scored Ibiza sunsets for three decades, and on this night the sun did something it had not done here in living memory.

Elsewhere, Feels Like Eclipse took over S’Arenal beach in San Antonio with Franky Rizardo, Café del Mar returned to its natural role as the island’s sunset amphitheatre, and Pukker Up ran an eclipse boat party just offshore.

Ibiza has spent decades engineering the perfect sunset. For once it did not have to. The next total eclipse over the island is generations away, which is precisely why every booth on the White Isle wanted its name on the one that just passed.
