About
Origin Festival is a psychedelic trance gathering in South Africa’s Western Cape. Its home is Elandskloof Guest Farm at Helderstroom, a valley between Villiersdorp and Greyton that the official site places 125 kilometres from Cape Town. The organisers describe Origin as a bastion for psychedelic music, art and culture, built around conscious party ethics and respect for nature, and they say a percentage of profits goes to local development projects each year.
The 2027 edition runs from 29 to 31 January 2027. At the time of writing the official site still shows the 2026 headliners, so no 2027 lineup has been published. The organisers say ticket sales will be limited to the same number as previous years, with a larger number of Early Bird and Phase 1 tickets released to keep prices down. The Get Tickets button on the site currently still points to the 2026 sales page, so check originfestival.com for the 2027 link.
The programme opens on the Friday afternoon with yoga and an opening ceremony before the music begins. The main dancefloor, called the Origin Floor, sits beneath the Temple of Colour installation. Camping options include Camp Comfort and Easy Life pre pitched tents, and the site is a green valley with mountain streams and forest. For other events in the region, see our techno festival guide.
