About Komplex NYE
Komplex holds its New Year’s Eve event at Watamu on the Kenyan coast from 31 December 2026 into 1 January 2027, starting in the afternoon. Watamu sits between Malindi and Kilifi on a stretch of coast with a marine national park offshore, which makes it one of the better beach destinations in East Africa.
Komplex Ke have run events in Kenya for years, including earlier New Year parties on the coast, and the Watamu date positions the brand in the week when Nairobi empties towards the sea. The coast over New Year is the busiest period of the Kenyan calendar.
Tickets are sold through Quicket. Watamu is around 90 minutes north of Mombasa and 30 minutes south of Malindi, both of which have airports with connections to Nairobi, and accommodation runs from beach bandas to resorts. Late December on the Kenyan coast is hot, dry and humid. For a Kenyan New Year music festival, Watamu is the quieter alternative to Kilifi.
