Hyper Freedom Festival (Kuching (Sarawak), Malaysia) 2026

Hyper Freedom Festival runs in Kuching from 4 to 6 December 2026, three days in the Sarawak capital on the Malaysian side of Borneo. The organisers pitch it as uniting music, arts, culture and motorsports under a motto of equality, unity, love and peace, which makes it an unusual proposition even by Southeast Asian festival standards.

The motorsports element is not decoration. The festival programmes it alongside the music rather than as a side attraction, which reflects Kuching’s own circuit culture, and the arts and cultural strands draw on Sarawak’s position as the meeting point of more than twenty indigenous groups. The organisers frame the whole thing as inspiring connections across Asia from the heart of Borneo.

Tickets are sold through Ticketmelon. Kuching is served directly from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta, with the airport 20 minutes from the city centre, and December sits in the monsoon season on this coast so rain is likely rather than possible. The city itself is one of the more pleasant in Malaysia, with the waterfront and the old bazaar within walking distance of the centre. For a Bornean music festival, there is nothing else like it.
