Calvin Harris Closes Tomorrowland 2026 Weekend One, 13 Years in the Making

Tonight in Boom, Calvin Harris closes the Mainstage at Tomorrowland 2026’s opening weekend. It is his first set under the Tomorrowland banner since TomorrowWorld in Atlanta back in 2013, and, remarkably, his first ever appearance on the festival’s famous Mainstage in Belgium. Thirteen years is a long wait for a debut this obvious.

The debut lands in a weekend that has already produced its share of storylines. Local authorities banned fireworks and pyrotechnics across weekend one after a long drought pushed the region around the festival site to Code Orange, Belgium’s second highest fire risk level. The decision came from the mayors of Boom and Rumst together with the provincial governor, on the advice of the fire brigade, and organisers reportedly learned of it through the media. So the closing set of the weekend, traditionally a sky-wide spectacle, will lean on music rather than gunpowder.

Elsewhere, the CONSCIENCIA edition has quietly become a strong one for the harder and deeper end of the site. Steve Angello delivered a three hour masterclass at Crystal Garden on Saturday, while the ATMOSPHERE stage handed techno its biggest platform of the weekend with Nico Moreno, Sara Landry and sim0ne. Weekend two runs from 24 to 26 July, and Harris returns for the Saturday.

The interesting part is not that Calvin Harris finally plays the Mainstage, it is that Tomorrowland waited this long to book him and still made it feel like an event. With the fireworks grounded, tonight becomes a rare thing for Boom: a Mainstage finale that has to win on selection alone.
