ValhallaFest (Terrace, BC, Canada) 2027

ValhallaFest returns to the Lower Shames Estate near Terrace, British Columbia from 25 to 27 June 2027, a camping festival set in old growth forest on the Zimacord river at the foot of Shames Mountain, roughly ten kilometres west of the town. The event caps attendance at around 1,000 people and runs more than 50 artists across three stages, which puts it firmly in the boutique bracket rather than the Canadian festival mainstream.

The forest is the whole proposition. Stages are built under moss covered canopies, the camping sits among the trees, and the programme is filled out with participant run workshops, art installations and community sessions alongside the music. The organisers acknowledge that the site stands on the traditional territory of Kitsumkalum, a community of the Tsimshian Nation, and that relationship is stated on the festival’s own materials rather than tucked away.

The festival reached its fifth edition in 2023 with record attendance and has grown steadily since, drawing comparisons to a small scale Burning Man from local press because of its participatory format. Terrace sits in northwest British Columbia, served by Northwest Regional Airport and by the Via Rail line from Prince George and Prince Rupert; most attendees drive in from across the region. The 2027 lineup had not been published in full at the time of writing. Other North American dates are listed on our music festival page.
