About Fortune Sound Club

Fortune Sound Club is a nightclub and event space at 147 East Pender Street in Vancouver's Chinatown, opened in 2009 in a three-storey building from 1921 that once housed Ming's Restaurant. The club describes itself as Asian owned and as one of the first businesses in the recent renewal of Chinatown. Its main room runs on a Funktion-One sound system, and the venue holds 450 people, with several private rooms including a karaoke room. The weekly programme has Happy Ending Fridays, the flagship night for more than 17 years, WYA? Saturdays with hip-hop and R&B, and Midnight Mondays. Between these it hosts touring DJs and live shows from promoters such as Blueprint, along with art shows, fashion shows and pop-up markets.
