About Stone Techno Festival
Stone Techno Festival returns to the UNESCO World Heritage site at Zollverein in Essen from 9 to 11 July 2027, running its programme through the coking plant and colliery buildings that once powered the Ruhr. Regular tickets for the 2027 edition, listed by the organisers as STF27, are already on sale.
The festival is produced by The Third Room and ties its identity to the region rather than to a touring brand. The organisers write about the Ruhr as a place built on solidarity as much as on coal and steel, and the industrial architecture does the rest: steel frames, washing plants and conveyor bridges become the production design instead of built stages.
Stone Techno has an unusual broadcast partner in ARTE Concert, the European public culture channel, which films sets at the site and publishes them in full. Recordings from past editions include KI/KI in 2022 and D-Leria and GiGi FM from the most recent event, which makes the festival easy to audition before booking. The 2027 line-up has not been announced. Essen is central in the Ruhr and reached in under an hour from Duesseldorf, Dortmund and Cologne, so this music festival works without a car.
