San Francisco’s Pier 80 is set to become a major meeting point for electronic music, dance culture and forward-thinking sounds when Portola Music Festival returns on September 26-27, 2026. Celebrating its fifth year, the music festival brings together a carefully balanced mix of established electronic pioneers, contemporary dance acts, pop artists and underground talent across four distinct stages: the Pier Stage, Warehouse, Crane Stage and Ship Tent. Saturday will be led by Robyn and DOG BLOOD, the collaborative project of Skrillex and Boys Noize, with Soulwax, Fatboy Slim, Skepta, Tove Lo, Prospa, KETTAMA, Groove Armada, DJ Shadow, Tricky, Chloé Caillet and Max Styler adding further weight to the programme. Sunday shifts toward Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto and Zara Larsson, alongside Four Tet, Parcels, Mochakk, Overmono, Marlon Hoffstadt, SG Lewis, Kelela, Ben UFO, VTSS, Daphni and HorsegiirL. The festival’s appeal goes beyond its headline names, with Portola continuing to create space for emerging artists and distinctive sounds across house, techno, electro, UK-inspired dance music, indie electronic and experimental club culture. One of the weekend’s defining attractions will once again be DESPACIO, the immersive sound experience created by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, David and Stephen Dewaele of 2manydjs and Soulwax, and sound engineer John Klett, offering a different kind of listening and dancing environment away from the main stages. Portola’s industrial Pier 80 setting also plays an important role in its identity, combining warehouse spaces and outdoor stages with the atmosphere of San Francisco’s waterfront. The 2026 edition will feature both indoor and outdoor areas, with doors opening at 1 PM and the festival continuing until an 11 PM curfew each day. Beyond the main weekend, Portola Week expands the experience with additional events around San Francisco, while the festival itself remains focused on creating a concentrated two-day programme for electronic music fans. With a lineup that moves comfortably between influential dance pioneers, major international names and some of the most exciting newer artists in club culture, Portola Music Festival 2026 continues to establish its own character within the American festival landscape, offering a distinctly San Francisco experience built around music, industrial spaces and a strong connection to contemporary electronic culture.
