About
On the green outskirts of Aarhus, where the city gradually fades into open fields and coastal air, NorthSide Festival returns in 2026 to its familiar home in Eskelunden, once again transforming the riverside park into one of Denmark’s most important summer cultural gatherings. Taking place from 4–6 June 2026, the festival spreads across three days, with afternoon openings that evolve into long evening sessions, shaped by Denmark’s extended summer daylight and the relaxed pace of Scandinavian festival culture.
NorthSide has built its reputation as one of Northern Europe’s most forward-thinking multi-genre festivals, blending indie, pop, alternative, hip-hop, and electronic music into a carefully curated program that reflects both global headliners and regional Scandinavian talent. Over the years, the festival has hosted artists such as The Chemical Brothers, The Cure, Arctic Monkeys, Rosalía, Liam Gallagher, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Charli XCX, setting a clear identity focused on high-impact live performances and emotionally driven sets rather than genre limitation.
The 2026 edition continues this direction with a lineup that brings together international stadium-level acts and more experimental contemporary voices, including names like The 1975, The Weeknd, Florence + The Machine, Stormzy, Fred again.., Overmono, Jamie xx, Caroline Polachek, and local Nordic artists shaping the next wave of Scandinavian music culture. Electronic music plays a strong supporting role across late-night programming, where DJs and hybrid live sets extend the energy beyond the main stage performances into more club-oriented spaces within the festival grounds.
Set within Eskelunden’s natural landscape along the Aarhus River, the festival site is designed to feel open and breathable, with stages positioned between trees, grass fields, and gently sloping terrain that naturally guides movement between performances. Each area has its own identity, from large main stages built for headline shows to smaller, more intimate zones focused on discovery and emerging artists. As daylight stretches late into the evening, the entire space shifts in tone, with lighting design and stage production gradually taking over the natural environment.
What defines NorthSide Festival is its balance between sustainability, curation, and atmosphere. The event places strong emphasis on reducing environmental impact while maintaining a high-quality cultural experience, integrating food concepts, art installations, and thoughtful spatial design into the overall festival flow.
Across three days in June 2026, NorthSide Festival once again becomes a temporary cultural city in Aarhus, where music, nature, and contemporary festival culture merge into a shared experience shaped by long summer nights, open-air stages, and a diverse international audience.
