Kunye New Year’s Day (Cape Town, South Africa) 2027

Kunye holds its New Year’s Day event in Cape Town on 1 January 2027, the afro house series run by Kunye Records. Kunye has become one of the defining platforms for South African afro house, running events across the country and internationally alongside its label output.

The booking draws on the top of the genre. Kabza De Small has played a Kunye afro set, with Dlala Thukzin and Fiona Kraft also recorded at Kunye events, all published in full on the label’s own channel. That archive is the clearest guide to what the series sounds like.

Tickets are sold through Howler. A New Year’s Day event in Cape Town catches an audience that has already committed to the city for the holidays, and 1 January in the Cape is high summer with sunset after 8pm. Cape Town International connects directly to Europe, the Middle East and across Africa, with accommodation at its annual peak over the New Year week. For an afro house music festival to open the year, Kunye is the South African answer.
