Exodus (Ceres (Matroosberg Nature Reserve), South Africa) 2027

Exodus runs at the Matroosberg Nature Reserve near Ceres from 19 to 21 February 2027, a psychedelic festival staged by Southern Tipsy Underground. The Matroosberg is the highest peak in the Western Cape at 2,249 metres, the only place in the province that reliably gets snow, and the reserve sits on its slopes.

Exodus has run since at least 2016, with official aftermovies and a trailer published for the 2016 and 2017 editions. The Southern Tipsy Underground crew programme across psytrance, and the mountain reserve gives the festival both isolation and a landscape few South African sites can match.

Tickets are sold through Quicket. Ceres is around two hours north east of Cape Town over the Michell’s Pass, with the Matroosberg reserve a further 40 minutes into the mountains on gravel. Late February in the Cape mountains means very hot days and cold nights at altitude, with no shade beyond what is built. Arriving with water and warm kit matters more here than at a coastal site.
