About Cardume NYE
Cardume runs on the beaches of Aracati in Ceara from 26 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, one of the largest New Year festivals for the Brazilian LGBTQIA+ community. The festival moves between unspoiled stretches of the north eastern coast each year, and the week long format carries through to the new year itself.
Aracati sits on the Ceara coast east of Fortaleza, in dune country where the beaches run for kilometres without development. Cardume uses that as the whole premise: an eight day gathering on sand rather than a built festival site, with the programme shaped around sunrise and sunset as much as the headline slots.
Cardume Records operate as a label alongside the festival, publishing sets from their events including Dion’s 2025 anniversary performance. Tickets are sold through Shotgun. Fortaleza is served directly from across Brazil and from Lisbon and Milan, with Aracati around two hours east by road. Late December in Ceara is dry season with constant trade winds. For a Brazilian New Year music festival, Cardume is the one the community travels for.
