About Café Opera

Café Opera is a nightclub in the Royal Swedish Opera building on Karl XII:s torg in central Stockholm. Known locally as "Cafét", it opened in 1980 in a room dating from 1895, which keeps its ceiling paintings by the 19th-century artist Vicke Andrén and its crystal chandeliers. The club belongs to Operahuset, the group of restaurants, bars and event rooms in the opera building that also runs Operakällaren and Operabaren, and Operahuset is part of Nobis Restaurant Division.

The club opens on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights until 03:00, with separate guest lists for Wednesdays and for the weekend, and VIP tables and birthday bookings handled by the club directly. Over more than four decades it has hosted live concerts and international DJs. The door asks for a stylish, smart look, with no sportswear, shorts or sandals. Operahuset has announced that 2026 is its final year before the whole building closes for a renovation lasting several years.
