Iconic London Club Tiger Tiger Closes After 26 Years
After 26 years, London's Tiger Tiger nightclub closes, paving the way for a 507-room hotel at its Haymarket site.

After 26 years of unforgettable nights, London’s iconic nightclub Tiger Tiger has closed its doors, making way for a new chapter in the city’s nightlife history. Located on Haymarket, the popular 1,700-capacity spot shut down last week on October 17, 2024, announcing the closure through a statement on its website: “Tiger Tiger London has now closed“. The message also expressed gratitude to the club’s loyal patrons, staff, DJs, and partners for years of vibrant memories.
Plans are already underway to transform the eight-story Haymarket House, which housed Tiger Tiger, into a 507-room hotel. A planning application submitted by Centro Planning Consultancy to Westminster Council also proposes a rooftop “plant screen” as part of the building’s redesign. Currently, the planning proposal is under review by the local authorities, and it remains unclear if the nightclub’s closure directly aligns with these development plans.
Since its debut in 1998, Tiger Tiger‘s Haymarket venue has spanned 18,000 square feet, featuring four dance floors and five bars, each dedicated to different music genres. It became renowned for its wild, unpretentious nights out, shaping the social scene in the early 2000s alongside its Cardiff and former Leeds locations. In 2007, the club made headlines when it was targeted in a failed car bombing attempt, linked to an incident at Glasgow Airport the following day.
As a central part of London’s nightlife for decades, Tiger Tiger‘s closure marks the end of an era, while the forthcoming hotel hints at a new direction for this celebrated location.
