About Yalla Valhalla Shipwreck of Dreams
Yalla Valhalla brings Shipwreck of Dreams to Franschhoek on 6 February 2027, the latest in a series the promoters have built on staging events in historic buildings. Previous editions have taken the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, the oldest colonial building in South Africa, and Castle Lichtenstein in Germany.
Franschhoek sits in a valley in the Cape Winelands, founded by Huguenot refugees in 1688 and now the most concentrated fine dining and wine area in the country. Using it for a one day festival keeps the Yalla Valhalla approach intact: a setting with its own history rather than a neutral site.
Tickets are sold through Fixr. Franschhoek is around an hour east of Cape Town over the Helshoogte Pass through Stellenbosch, with accommodation on the surrounding wine estates and in the village. Early February in the Winelands is the hottest part of the year, regularly above 32 degrees, with harvest under way. The organisers publish aftermovies for each edition. For a South African music festival that uses its venues properly, Yalla Valhalla is the one.
