About VETA Festival
VETA Festival returns to Barruelo de Santullan in the province of Palencia from 2 to 4 July 2027 for the third edition of what the organisers call Mine Sound Extraction. The festival is staged in and around a disused coal mine in the north of Castile and Leon, using the pit buildings and the headframe as the backdrop to the floors.
Programming leans towards the harder and more experimental end of techno. The 2025 edition brought Kangding Ray playing live, ANNE back to back with Sol Ortega, Rene Wise, Phara live and Exium, while the most recent edition included Akua back to back with Philippa Pacho, D.Dan, Suut and Architectural. Full recordings are published on the festival channel afterwards, and the team also runs its own record label.
Early tickets are released through the official site to people who register for access first, a system the organisers have used since the first edition. The 2027 line-up has not been announced. Barruelo de Santullan sits around an hour north of Palencia by road and roughly two hours from Bilbao, and the mining valley has limited accommodation, so most visitors treat this music festival as a camping trip.
