About

Ultra South Africa closes its 2027 two-city run in Johannesburg on Saturday 1 May 2027 at the Expo Centre, Nasrec, one day after the Cape Town date at The Ostrich. The event is the twelfth edition of the South African branch of Ultra Worldwide, and the official site lists both legs with their venues, a traffic management plan for each city and a shared ticketing platform on Howler.

The Johannesburg event page on Howler lists running hours from 14:00 on 1 May to 02:00 on 2 May 2027. At the time of writing the page shows a sold out status, which appears to reflect that no ticket tier is currently open rather than a full sell-out, and a separate registration page has been set up for the Johannesburg leg. The 2027 lineup has not been announced. The event is for ages 18 and over and operates cashless.

As with every Ultra event, expect a main stage with heavy production and a RESISTANCE area for house and techno, the part of the programme most likely to interest a techno festival crowd. The Expo Centre at Nasrec is a large exhibition complex south of the city centre, and the organisers publish a Johannesburg traffic management plan and transport details before the show. Previous editions can be seen on the UMF TV aftermovies.
