Snow Machine (Hakuba, Japan) 2027

Snow Machine runs at Hakuba from 2 to 7 March 2027, four days of music, powder and apres in the Japanese Alps. Hakuba sits in Nagano prefecture, hosted events at the 1998 Winter Olympics and is the best known powder destination in Japan outside Niseko.

Snow Machine is an Australian promoted brand that also runs an edition in Queenstown, New Zealand, and the format pairs skiing and snowboarding during the day with music through the afternoon and evening across venues in the resort. The organisers publish films from the Japanese and Queenstown editions.

Tickets and packages combining accommodation with festival access are sold through the Snow Machine site. Hakuba is around four hours from Tokyo by shinkansen to Nagano and then bus, or five hours by road, with Tokyo’s airports the arrival point for most international visitors. Early March in Hakuba is still mid season with deep snow and lengthening days. For a Japanese snow music festival, Snow Machine is the one built for international visitors.
