About Little Forest Festival
Little Forest runs at Riviersonderend from 31 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, a three day outdoor New Year festival of music, art and love presented by Alien Safari and Vortex Parallel Universe. Riviersonderend sits in the Overberg between Caledon and Swellendam, in the wheat country inland from the Cape coast.
Bringing Alien Safari and Vortex together is significant: the two have been the dominant forces in South African psytrance for decades, running separate circuits, and Little Forest is where they share a site. The result is a multi genre gathering the organisers describe as rooted in values beyond music.
Tickets are sold through Quicket. Riviersonderend is around two hours east of Cape Town on the N2, with the festival site in forest rather than on open veld, which matters for shade in a Cape summer. Late December in the Overberg is hot and dry with strong afternoon wind. Both promoters publish official films from each edition. For a South African New Year psytrance music festival, this is the collaboration that matters.
