About Cakeshop
Cakeshop is a basement club on Itaewon-ro in Itaewon, Seoul, opened in 2012 by local expats who, in Mixmag Asia's words, were looking for a scene that did not yet exist in the city. The room holds about 200 people and sits below one of the older buildings in the area. Its programme has always leaned towards underground club sounds: UK bass, grime, future garage, house, techno, disco, drum and bass and experimental hip hop, with Korean resident DJs alongside international guests. In 2026 the club marked almost 14 years in Itaewon with its first tour of South Korea, taking its DJs to Gwangju, Busan, Daegu, Paju and Jeju between June and July, while international bookings continued at the Seoul venue into September.
