The art of production: Paul Woolford / Special Request Playlist on Spotify

Behind-the-scenes, with attitude. The art of production: Paul Woolford / Special Request is a Resident Advisor playlist on the methods of the artist also known as Special Request.

“Soundboy Killer” (6:31) and “Curtain Twitcher” (5:23) by Special Request are the headline tracks. Paul Woolford, Bobby Peru and Tessela also appear.

It is a short 12 tracks and 1 h 11 min of rave-coded, breakbeat-edged techno. Useful for a workout, a late-night warm-up or studio inspiration. With only 12 tracks it is easy to play straight through, and the two Special Request cuts set a tough, rolling tone that the rest of the list follows. Tessela and Bobby Peru keep the energy sharp and the low end heavy from start to finish.

Hardcore, dubbed out, produced with intent.
