NEOPOP Festival (Viana do Castelo, Portugal) 2027

NEOPOP Festival returns to Viana do Castelo from 5 to 7 August 2027, bringing three days of techno back to the northern Portuguese coast. The festival has been one of the defining electronic events in Iberia for two decades, booking the kind of bill that draws an audience from across Spain, France and the United Kingdom to a town of 35,000 people on the mouth of the Lima river.

The 2026 edition was staged as ANTIPOP, marking 20 years of NEOPOP across Porto and Viana do Castelo from 6 to 8 August, and the 2027 return to the standard format follows that anniversary. Official aftermovies going back to 2016 give a clear sense of the scale: large open air stages, heavy production and sets that run deep into the night, with the festival’s programming consistently weighted towards the harder end of European techno.

Viana do Castelo sits about an hour north of Porto, which has the nearest international airport and direct trains to the town. Accommodation in Viana itself is limited at festival time, so many visitors base themselves in Porto or along the coast. Tickets are sold through the festival’s own platform in tiered releases. The 2027 line up had not been published at the time of writing. For techno in Portugal, it is the music festival that set the template.
