Electronic Dance Music s Saddest Songs” Playlist on Spotify

Dance music has always had a soft spot for heartbreak, and Electronic Dance Music’s Saddest Songs collects it in one place. The playlist is saved and curated by the editors at Magnetic Magazine, who rotate the selection regardless of genre.

Seven Lions, Avicii, HALIENE, Said The Sky and Above & Beyond lead the artist list, with Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin and Dabin close behind. Sample tracks include “Erase” by Ben Böhmer and lau.ra, “Burns” by George FitzGerald, “Worlds Away” by Dabin and Trella, and an acoustic mix of “Plans” by Elephante and Brandyn Burnette.

The sound is emotional melodic electronica and big-room melancholy: soaring vocals, slow builds and breakdowns made for staring out of a train window. It suits late evenings, long drives and the comedown hours. With 90 tracks and 6 h 39 min of runtime, there is enough here to fill a whole sad night.

For when the drop hits your heart.
