Corsica Studios

corsicastudios

Located between the railway arches, Elephant and Castle’s well-loved Corsica Studios is quite literally the definition of “underground techno”. Corsica Studios is exactly the kind of place you want to listen to techno in: dark, stripped back, and immediate. Its capacity of 500 means it’s the ideal place to get beneath the skin of techno’s up-and-comers, as well as catching rare, personal sets from some of the scene’s biggest names.

The late-night music venue is reminiscent of Berlin techno nightclubs Tresor and Club der Visionäre. Corsica Studios books top DJs from around the world and makes it the perfect spot for a late-night session. Corsica Studios is every techno lover’s dream, with a heavy-duty sound system and creative video installations and projections to enhance the experience.

XOYO

XOYO - London Nightclubs

XOYO has been drawing in a discerning, party-ready crowd since the turn of the decade. You can rely on it for an eclectic selection of sounds, throwing out everything from grime to house to electro, but it’s the groove-laden techno that warrants a place on our list. The subterranean main room is where it all goes off, but it’s always worth wandering upstairs to check out the smaller second space to find a hidden gem.

XOYO is an old club that has been refurbished to create this highly aesthetic, artsy nightclub. This nightclub has won awards for being one of the top nightclubs in the world, so you can guess the immense popularity of the venue! The nightclub is spread over two floors: the main underground room and a smaller space upstairs known as the “Green Room“.

Phonox

Phonox Nightclub - London

Phonox is already one of its best. It does the basics, and it does them well: a Funktion One sound system, a penchant for extended sets, and only one room open on Fridays. But with its roster of DJs, things become really interesting. The focus is predominantly on the house, but there’s also a healthy dollop of techno on its lineup. Phonox should be a club for the heads who like their music wide-reaching, often boasting sets from staunchly experimental.

They have stuck to the basics and perfected them. The best sound system in the business. The DJs are known for playing extended sets of techno music. They also focus on house music which is the second choice for techno lovers.

Fabric

Fabric - London Nightclub

Undoubtedly the best-known club in London and an ever-reliable port of call for some ribcage-rattling techno music. In fact, it’s good for just about any type of electronic music you want to spend the night dancing to. The sound systems are world-beating, and it’s easy to get lost within the humongous space for what feels like days, especially as the DJ sets have a tendency to run throughout the night and then well past sunrise.

As one of the capital’s biggest and most ambitious party spots, Fabric is a no-brainer for a heavy night on the tiles. As well as playing host to a whole range of techno-loving resident DJs, the nightclub also welcomes industry legends from around the world.

FOLD

Fold - London Nightclub

Low ceilings, dark rooms, loud systems, a large smoking area, and a legendary Sunday party all contribute towards making FOLD the best underground spot in London, if not the whole of the UK. Usually, a place to get your techno-fix, you will also find heaps of electro, trance, and more at this incredible space, which also does an incredible job of providing a safe space for its predominantly queer community. This venue is one of the favorites for tutors, and you can see many of them performing at this venue.

Unlike any other clubs in London, FOLD has a 24-hour license to play music, thanks to the building’s sound-proofing, meaning that this nightclub can host events that start in the evening and that can go on until late the next afternoon. This venue has an insane sound system, and they are not scared to use it, so don’t forget to grab a pair of earplugs at the bar if you don’t want tinnitus.
