MUTEK Mexico (Mexico City, Mexico) 2026

MUTEK Mexico closes its twenty second edition from 6 to 8 November 2026, three days across Mexico City that extend the festival’s route through the capital by way of sound, digital creativity and partnerships with cultural spaces around the city. MUTEK MX has run since 2004 as the Latin American arm of the Montreal festival and is the longest established digital arts event in the region.

The Friday brings Nocturne, the format the organisers describe as their most emblematic, with a selection of Mexican and international artists working at the limits of sonic and visual experimentation. The programme is built around a mix of national and international proposals rather than headliners, which is consistent with how MUTEK has always presented itself.

The festival works with venues, bars, cinemas and restaurants across Roma, Condesa and the centre, which means the weekend functions as a route through the city as much as a programme. Earlier in 2026 MUTEK MX staged Tim Hecker’s Wastelands as an exhibition at the MUAC, and the twentieth edition included Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith. Tickets are sold through the festival’s own site. For an experimental music festival in Latin America, MUTEK MX set the template.
