Martin Garrix Tops DJ Mag’s 2024 No. 1 DJ Poll
Martin Garrix wins DJ Mag's No. 1 DJ spot for the fifth time, tying a historic record. 2024 has been a monumental year, with career-defining moments.
Martin Garrix has once again been named The World’s No. 1 DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2024 poll, marking his fifth victory in this prestigious ranking. With this achievement, he ties Armin van Buuren for the most No. 1 wins in the poll’s history. Martin Garrix has dominated the top spots since 2016, consistently remaining in the top five — a remarkable feat for someone still in his twenties.
In surpassing David Guetta, who held the top spot for three of the past four years, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have been top contenders for over a decade, Martin Garrix‘s rise continues to be meteoric. “I’m on the list with all my idols“, he shared with DJ Mag.
“I admire Armin and Tiësto, and being in the same category as them is surreal. When I first made No. 1, I worried it would be all downhill from there, so this return to the top is very special.“
2024 has been a landmark year for Martin Garrix. At Glastonbury, Coldplay performed a cover of his track “Breakaway“, much to his amazement.
“Chris Martin messaged me saying how much he loves the song. I couldn’t believe it. Now they’ve added it to their setlist for their stadium tours. Hopefully, it’s a step toward a future collaboration.“
Martin Garrix‘s summer schedule was packed with standout performances, including his Thursday residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, a venue he’s been headlining for seven consecutive years. The club holds a special place in his heart, as he snuck in as a 16-year-old fan to see the Swedish House Mafia perform. “It’s such an iconic venue“, Martin Garrix recalled.
“I even sprinted past security on my first visit. They’ve tightened security since then, but playing there is still magical.“
This year’s DJ Mag awards ceremony returned to Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena, where Martin Garrix claimed the No. 1 spot. The event, along with full DJ sets, is available for viewing on DJ Mag’s YouTube channel. Fans in China can also catch the show on NetEase Cloud Music, DJ Mag’s exclusive partner for the Top 100 DJs in the Chinese market.
