Flymeon – Behind The Scenes Of Control – Interview

Flymeon, the French Techno-Rockstar, has been making waves with his unique blend of hard-hitting beats, screaming guitars, and staggering synths. With his upcoming EP ‘Paris Under Control’, he has been teasing fans with releases of the first two tracks ‘Paris Acid City’ and ‘Blood on the Dancefloor’. Now, Flymeon has released the third single ‘Control’ via Rave Alert, showcasing his signature sound and musical vision. In this interview, we chat with Flymeon about the inspiration behind ‘Control’, his creative process, and what fans can expect from his future releases and collaborations.

Hello Flymeon, how are you doing?

Never been better!

What was the initial inspiration behind your latest release ‘Control’?

I had this single word ‘Control’ that resonated quite well with the authoritarian turn the French government has been taking a few years ago. I thought it would be relevant to oppose it with the lyrics ‘you’re losing…’ and ending this sentence by ‘Control’, to refer to the fact that the more you try to control the population (by force in this case), the more you’re actually losing control of the situation.

Can you walk us through your creative process when producing this track?

I can’t really remember what the process was exactly, I remember I produced this track quite fast, so everything went smoothly, I guess!

How did you go about selecting the specific sounds and elements used in this track?

The main thing, I guess, is the rumble kick that has a pattern that’s different from what we’re used to hear. I wanted to step away from the usual Techno rumble kick and create a rhythmic pattern that would be a bit different.

Did you face any challenges or obstacles during the production of this track? If so, how did you overcome them?

Yes, I remember that mixing the end of the track, from 3:50 to 4:20, was quite challenging as there are many elements in the mix.

Can you tell us more about the official remix by Jean Terechkova? How did this collaboration come about?

I’ve been knowing Jean Terechkova for some time now; she first invited me to play for her crew in Rennes, FR, in 2022. And I’ve been wanting to work with her for a long time, I really love her approach to melody, she’s a real musician.

How do you feel ‘Control’ differs from your previous releases?

It’s definitely darker and heavier.

What message or emotion are you hoping to convey to your audience with this track?

Well, I think it’s a violent track, the emotions I’m conveying here are quite dark as I just said, more in the spirit of Industrial Techno than what I usually do.

How do you plan on incorporating ‘Control’ into your live performances?

I already do! I usually play it at the beginning of my sets.

Lastly, what can fans expect from you in terms of future releases or collaborations?

We’re going to release the 4th and last single of the EP, it’s called ‘Raving Mothafucka’. It drops in May and I can’t wait for it, it’s more in the Hardstyle vibe than usual, quite different from ‘Control’.

As Flymeon continues to push the boundaries of Techno music with his signature sound, it’s clear that his latest release ‘Control’ is no exception. With a powerful message and unique sound, Flymeon shows no signs of slowing down and continues to push boundaries in the Techno scene with his hard-hitting style. We’re excited to see what he has in store for the upcoming of the last single off his EP, and his future releases. Thank you for joining us today, Flymeon.
